My beloved Mam was the kindest person I have ever known. She would do anything for anybody and would
be the first person at your door if you needed help. I dont know of anyone who had a bad word to say
about her.
She was absolutely gorgeous. When she was younger people said she looked like Ava Gardner. She was
5'8" tall with black hair and beautiful blue eyes - my gorgeous Mam!!
My childhood was simply the best. I dont think my parents ever raised their voices in anger, or if
they did I never heard it. The house was filled with love and lots of my mothers relatives stayed
over the holiday periods, enjoying the fact that we were all together. There was always a welcome at
our home, and being the 70's there were a few parties too, that i was usually allowed to stay up for
- at least for a while.
My Mother had a gorgeous voice and i remember one party where my Mam and Dad put on long wigs and
sang 'I got you Babe' - For anyone who doesnt know, the song was by Sonny and Cher. Its funny how
certain things stay in your memory, but it was pure magic.
My mother was quite a heavy smoker, and always worried about cancer, and sadly we found out that she
had stomach cancer in April of 1973. She had been in hospital for 2 weeks having tests done. They
found out that she had a Thyroid problem which made her very low, but when they tried to find out
what the lump was on her tummy they realised that it was in-operable. She died 5 days later. She was
almost 45.
I was 17 when she died so she has missed my wedding and my children being born. But even now 36
years later i think about her every day. I miss you Mam, Look after Alan, Lewis and Little Mo for me
and my lovely brother Lance. Till we meet again

A Bend In The Road
♥ღ♥ When we feel we have nothing left to give
and we are sure that the song has ended,
When our day seems over and the shadows fall
and the darkness of night has descended,
Where can we go to find the strength
to valiantly keep on trying?
Where can we find the hand that will dry
the tears that the heart is crying?
There's but one place to go and that is to God,
and dropping all pretense and pride,
We can pour out our problems without restraint
and gain strength with Him at our side.
And together we stand at life's crossroads
and view what we think is the end.
But God has a much bigger vision,
and He tells us it's only a bend,
For the road goes on and is smoother,

And the part that's unsung and unfinished

So rest and relax and grow stronger

My Mother and Me xxx
The Cord
We are connected, my child and I,
by an invisible cord not seen by the eye.
It's not like the cord that connected us 'till birth,
this cord can't be seen by anyone on earth.
This cord does its work, right from the start,
it bonds us together, attached at the heart.
I know that its there though no one can see,
the invisible cord, from my child to me.
The strength of this cord, it's hard to describe.
it can't be destroyed, it can't be denied.
It's stronger than any cord, man could create,
it withstands the tests, can hold any weight.
And though you are gone, not here with me,
the cord is still there, but no one can see.
It pulls at my heart, I am bruised....I am sore,
but this cord is my lifeline, as never before.
I am thankful that God connected this way,
a mother and a child, death can't take it away!
